HVO fuel is a 100% renewable diesel that is invaluable in helping the UK achieve its net zero carbon target. As a member of the paraffinic family of fuels, HVO is virtually chemically identical to regular diesel, allowing it to be used as a drop-in alternative to red and white diesel while reducing up to 90% of net CO2 emissions.
With a wide range of OEM approvals, HVO fuel can be used within existing fleets, equipment and machinery with no changes to infrastructure or capital expenditure. This removes cost barriers and enables a pragmatic step towards decarbonisation quickly and efficiently.
Beesley Fuels supplies the high-quality, renewable diesel to anywhere in the UK, in any required quantity within 48 hours.

Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil fuel is a clean-burning diesel alternative and is one of the cleanest fuels on the market. During the production process, feedstocks are saturated with hydrogen at high temperatures and pressures which removes any esters and oxygen, allowing it to resist ‘diesel bug’. This means the rate of degradation is far slower than regular biodiesel and diesel products, and boasts a shelf life of up to 10 years which is much longer than the 1 year shelf life of regular diesel – ideal for businesses operating standby power facilities.
HVO fuel is made from 100% renewable raw materials; it’s sustainable and biodegradable. It eliminates up to 90% of net CO2 emissions and hugely reduces NOx, PM and CO emissions.
Our team of HVO fuel experts is available to answer any of your questions regarding HVO fuel, give us a call today on 0330 123 1144 and we will be happy to assist you.
We are proud to be one of the first UK fuel suppliers to run our entire fleet on HVO fuel, a move that will save approximately 3,080 tonnes of CO2 every year. Why not join us on the road to a cleaner future? Call 0330 123 1144 to find out more about switching to an advanced renewable diesel fuel in your business too.
The advanced renewable diesel fuel is derived from 100% renewable waste streams through hydrotreatment and isomerisation. It meets bio content requirements with no FAME included and, to that point, avoids the instability and operability issues seen by many low blend diesels and high blend biofuels.
The feedstocks used to manufacture HVO fuel are 100% waste, drawn from primary sources which have bypassed damage to the environment, natural ecosystem and the drive for global deforestation.
HVO is an extremely clean fuel. Apart from being 100% hydrocarbon (0% oxygen) and made from 100% renewable raw materials, it is produced using a highly controlled hydrogenation and isomerisation process, which removes all impurities from the fuel. This results in a greatly extended lifespan, easier maintenance for storing your fuel, and a clean-burning fuel which can help lower your carbon footprint.
In addition, the cetane level in HVO fuel is much higher than that of regular diesel; regular diesel has a cetane of around 51, and HVO has a cetane number greater than 70.
What’s more, HVO fuel meets EN 15940 standards and Fuel Quality Directive 2009/30/EC Annex 2. A range of OEM approvals allows it to be used in diesel engines without voiding warranties.

Cetane levels are an indicator of how readily and completely the fuel will burn in the combustion chamber, and a higher cetane level means the faster the fuel will ignite, the more completely it will burn. This is important because if fuel burns faster in the combustion chamber, the engine will experience greater performance and produce fewer harmful emissions.
The chemical structure of HVO imparts fantastic low-temperature stability, allowing it to be used in arctic conditions without any difficulty.
HVO fuel is OEM approved by several global companies and passenger car manufacturers, meaning it can be used in heavy-duty road vehicles such as articulated lorries as well as many off-road vehicles such as tractors, construction vehicles & more. These include, but are not limited to:
Heavy Duty Road Vehicles | Passenger Cars | Non-road use |
DAF | Citroen | Caterpillar |
Scania | DS | Agco Power |
Renault | Mercedes-Benz(Nordic) | Deere |
MAN | Volvo | Scania |
