Our industrial heating oil (IHO) is intended for use in industrial boilers and furnaces. Our IHO is a like-for-like replacement for red diesel (gas oil) which is no longer permitted to be used as a commercial heating fuel.

IHO has been developed for use in heating applications and is commonly used in hospitals, factories, large public buildings, grain dryers, schools, hotels and quarries.

Please note that industrial heating oil is also a fully rebated product and must only be used for heating.

What is kerosene?

Kerosene is a versatile fuel that is used for various applications, most commonly heating. It’s also very popular in properties with no gas mains connections as a way of fuelling boilers. In fact, roughly 1.2 million barrels are used worldwide every day.

The fuel is a clear, light liquid not dissimilar to diesel in appearance, but a blue colouring is often added to identify it. Kerosene is created as part of the distillation process of crude oil, from which we also get the likes of diesel, petrol and naphtha.

Kerosene is a non-corrosive fuel which makes it a lot less dangerous than other types of fuel. It also has a long storage life making it ideal for storing for heating applications. Clean-burning heating oil: HVO

From 15th June 2022 in England and 23rd November in Wales, Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) can officially be used as a low-carbon fuel in HEAT applications (Building Regulations)

When using HVO for the decarbonisation of off-grid hard-to-treat properties, as opposed to other government-backed solutions such as heat pumps and bio-mass, HVO has a lower CO2e value and primary energy factor than bio-mass wood pellets and electricity required to power a heat pump
