Red diesel for the rail industry

Businesses in the rail sector are entitled to use red diesel (rebated diesel) to propel or stop vehicles that run on railway tracks. We’re a registered supplier of red diesel with HMRC and can supply as much red diesel as you need to any railyard in the UK. If you wish to purchase fuel for off-rail activities such as heating or cooling, you are not entitled to use the rebated fuel and must place a separate order.

To purchase rebated diesel, you must fill out our red diesel RDCO form when placing an order.

A fuel catastrophe doesn’t just disrupt the journey of your passengers; it can also result in financial penalties and compensation, which is why it’s important that your fuel supply remains uninterrupted throughout your operations. In the event of an emergency, our priority fuel contracts guarantee that your fuel supply will reach you within a pre-agreed timeframe. For an annual fee, you’ll jump the queue in the event of an emergency, and getting fuel to your railyard(s) will become our priority.

Test and clean contaminated fuel

78% of fuels that we test are contaminated, affecting performance, efficiency and increasing the need for replacement parts. At Beesley Fuels, we can take samples from the top, middle and bottom of your storage tank(s) and test them at our on-site laboratory. You’ll receive an easy-to-read report that will help you understand the health of your fuel, with recommendations should your fuel receive a cautious or serious rating.

Should we find that your fuel is dirty or contaminated, our fuel polishing service can restore your fuel to pristine condition by removing any sediment, sludge or debris. Our filtration system can polish up to 25,000 litres of fuel per hour, and you can still use your fuel while we carry out our service. By cleaning your fuel, you’ll be safeguarding your business against disruption and extending the life of your fuel systems.

Transfer fuel between railyards with fuel uplifts

No matter the reason, we can help you with fuel uplifts and transfers, whether that be to move fuels and lubricants within the same railyard or to transfer them to another site. Our expert engineers can safely uplift your fuel without any leaks or damage to the environment. We’ll then transfer your fuel to the necessary site, transferring up to 36,000 litres in our tankers.

We can also collect waste fuels and decommission old oil storage tanks that are no longer used or required. We will also test your old fuels to see if they can be put back into use, with or without our fuel polishing processes. If you no longer require your old fuels and recovery for reuse of the fuels is possible, we may even purchase them from you.
